The State Botanical Garden of Georgia

The Garden Club of Georgia promotes an active interest in Arboreta and Botanical Gardens with special emphasis placed on the State Botanical Garden in Athens.

In 1971 garden clubs raised over $22,000 to help with the initial planning and establishment of the garden. Our State Headquarters is located on the grounds of the SBG. During the "Plant 4 a Cure" project in the 2003-05 term, garden club members raised money to fight breast cancer. And as a lasting memorial, a portion of the funds were used to plant over 10,000 daffodils in sweeping drifts along the entrance to the State Botanical Gardens. Each spring when the daffodils are in bloom, we are reminded of those individuals who have fought against cancer.

Garden Clubs are asked to donate a minimum of $10 (check made payable to GCG) to the Garden and send it to the State Chairman before March 1st of each year in order to receive a certificate of appreciation. Please use the voucher coupons on the forms page when you mail your check. Thank you.
