National Garden Clubs Scholarship Program

The National Garden Clubs (NGC) offers 32 annual advanced scholarships to junior, senior, or graduate students, each grant totaling $3,500 for the academic year.

Applicants must be full-time students majoring in Agriculture Education, Horticulture, Floriculture, Landscape Design, Botany, Biology, Plant Pathology/Science, Forestry, Agronomy, Environmental Concerns, Environmental Conservation, Urban and Rural Planning, Wildlife Science, Habitat or Forest/Systems Ecology, Land Management and/or other garden related or allied subjects. Career goals must demonstrate objectives that are garden-related.

The Garden Club of Georgia, Inc., is entitled to submit two nominees for NGC scholarships annually. The deadline for completed applications is March 1 annually. The 2009 NGC Scholarship
$4,000 to Mathew O'Meara, Sophomore, Environmental Economics and Management, University of Georgia

The 2009 NGC Scholarship
$4,000 to Helen Arnold Person, Graduate Student, Historic Preservation, University of Georgia

The 2008 NGC Scholarship
$3,500 to Derrick Eugene Lepard, Senior, Landscape Architecture, University of Georgia

The 2007 NGC Scholarship
$3,500 to Derrick Eugene Lepard, Junior, Landscape Architecture, University of Georgia

The 2007 NGC Scholarship
$3,500 to Mary Charles Jordan, Senior, Landscape Architecture, University Georgia

The 2006 NGC Scholarship
$3,500 to Meggan Helfen, Junior, Landscape Architecture, University of Georgia

The 2006 NGC Scholarship Alternate
$1,750 to Sarah Thompson, Graduate Student, Horticulture, University of Georgia

Deep South Region Scholarship Program

The Deep South Region Scholarship program offers financial aid to a qualified Deep South Region high school senior majoring in any garden or environmental related subject and enrolled in an accredited college or university in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, or Tennessee.

In 2008 Georgia was honored to have its high school applicant receive the Deep South scholarship. The 2008 DSR Scholarship of $1,000 went to Amber Christian Rolader. She will attend the University of Georgia.
