Garden Club Scholarships

The Garden Club of Georgia, Inc., continues to provide scholarships to deserving Georgia college students majoring in any garden-related subject in an accredited college or university in Georgia. Work Scholarships are also awarded to students for a designated number of hours to be worked at a public botanical garden.

Funding for scholarships is derived from many sources including the sale of engagement calendars, Life Memberships, the Patron of Scholarship program, donations, and special projects. Judging of recipients for the scholarships is based on need, scholastic record, character, initiative, and general attitude. The selection of the scholarship winners is made by the Scholarship Committee of the Garden Club of Georgia, Inc. Each year, the Scholarship committee tries to increase the number and size of the scholarships we award to our deserving students.

In recent years, the development of the "Named Scholorship" program is a major source of additional funding for our students. For a minimum of $1,000, an individual or organization may be honored with a scholarship in their name. The names of the honored individuals/organizations are published in the GCG Calendar, in the Archives, on the GCG Website and in Garden Gateways. See the "Named Scholarship Donation Form" below for further details.

Applicants must be full-time students majoring in Agriculture Education, Horticulture, Floriculture, Landscape Design, Botany, Plant Biology, Plant Pathology, Plant Sciences, Forestry, Agronomy, Environmental Concerns, Environmental Conservation, Urban and Rural Planning, Wildlife Science Habitat, Forest Systems, Ecology, Land Management, and/or other garden related or allied subjects. Career goals must demonstrate objectives that are garden related.

Applicants must have been a resident of Georgia for the past four years and must be enrolled at an accredited college or university in Georgia and be paying in-state tuition.
